Charles Ingram
Charles William Ingram (born 6 August 1963) is an English novelist, computer repairman, and former British Army major who became known for being accused and convicted of cheating on the television game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in 2001, after winning the maximum prize of one million pounds. Following a lengthy trial at Southwark Crown Court, he was convicted on a single count of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception. He was convicted of an unrelated insurance fraud in 2003, and ordered to resign his commission as a major by the Army Board.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire host Chris Tarrant has spoken about the very suspicious behaviour Charles Ingram displayed following his jackpot scam.

The former army major appeared on the ITV series in 2001 and became a household name when he scooped the top prize. But it was soon discovered that he had cheated his way to the £1million thanks to the help of his  wife Diana and friend Tecwen Whittock, who coughed to indicate correct answers.

Following a trial at Southwark Crown Court, Ingram, his wife and Whittock were convicted by a majority verdict of procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception.
