Hospital bosses in Trafford have been criticised over low life expectancy statistics for people with learning disabilities living in the borough.The national average life expectancy for women with a learning disability is 59, according to the Office for National Statistics, but in Trafford that falls by 13 years to just 46.For men with learning disabilities, the average national life expectancy is 60 but in Trafford it’s 10 years lower, at 50.The CCG said this year’s average for females is ‘unusually’ low due to the sad deaths of three young women with learning disabilities in the borough.It added it is working to urgently address the current life expectancies for people with learning disabilities in Trafford and is putting an action plan.
