A teenage boy has been detained after the discovery of homemade bomb parts inside a house - which prompted a major emergency services response and evacuations.
Police descended on a residential street in the Chorley area of Lancashire after reports that a "suspicious object" had been found at a property.
A number of properties had to be evacuated and surrounding roads were closed as a precaution, Lancs Live reports. The incident was first reported at around 3.40pm on Thursday (May 5).
Army bomb squad officers were called to the scene and several police officers were seen wearing full body armour as they inspected the object 'believed to be the component parts of an improvised explosive device (IED)'.
