Strictly's Amanda Abbington's fiancé sues over failed TV stunt that left him paralysed

An escapologist who was left paralysed attempting to perform a stunt during rehearsals of America's Got Talent has started legal action against producers.

Jonathan Goodwin, who is engaged to Strictly Come Dancing Star Amanda Abbington, was left with life-changing injuries after he got crushed between two burning cars.The failed stunt which happened during America's Got Talent: Extreme rehearsals, at the Atlanta Motor Speedway, in October 2021.

He was supposed to escape a strait jacket while upside down 30ft in the air in between two suspended cars. However Jonathan became crushed between them as they caught on fire and he fell to the ground.

He was left with a dislocated spinal cord, which left him a paraplegic. The stuntman came away from the accident with fractures to his ribs, legs and shoulders, third-degree burns, internal organ injuries and he also lost his left kidney.
