The reviews are in for The Hunt,and the one thing that critics can agree on is Betty Gilpin's stand out performance. The satirical film follows 12 strangers who wake up in a clearing with no knowledge of where they are or how they got there.

In an alternate timeline, we saw when it hit theaters in September of last year, said what we had to say, stanned Betty Gilpin and moved on. In response, Universal ripped director Craig Zobel’s movie from its original Sept. 27 release date and rescheduled the thriller for spring 2020, making room for national mourning in the wake of the horrific events, only to turn around and use the controversy as an unconventional marketing hook.

There simply aren’t enough synonyms for “loathsome” to do the new movie “The Hunt” justice. Perhaps if we expand into other languages. C’est détestable! È ripugnante!

Scheduled for release back in September of 2019, The Hunt went on hiatus due to a number of tragic shootings Stateside. Although there are plenty of violent films, and numerous shootings throughout the year, The Hunt was unfairly targeted due to it focusing on a plot that sees wealthy liberals hunt the right-wing. However, after seeing The Hunt, it all seems rather daft; this is social satire, but with so much tongue in cheek and over the top gore, that surely nobody will be taking it seriously.
