The actor, 32, starred in the “Pitch Perfect” movie franchise before landing stints on “Glee”, “Ground Floor” and “My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”, not to mention Broadway and stage productions of “Spring Awakening”, “Rent”, “West Side Story” and “Into the Woods.” Clearly, Astin was born to perform. “I played piano since I was five years old,” Astin tells ET Canada. “I used to sing at my piano recitals.
I actually sang the ‘Friends’ theme one year. I sang the ‘Popeye the Sailor Man’ theme one year. I was a pretty big hit. Then, I became more of a fan of musical theatre.
