Rod Stewart has shared his own tribute following the death of the Queen whilst also revealing his own personal loss. The singer took to social media to share how it had been a 'devastating 48 hours following the death of his brother, Don, days before the Queen's death was announced.

Queen Elizabeth II died, aged 96, on Thursday afternoon (September 8). Her death was announced at around 6.30pm following the release of a brief statement by Buckingham Palace.

The Palace said: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow." Sir Rod, who performed at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee concert in June, has since posted on Instagram and Twitter: "It has been a devastating 48 hours.
