The 32-year-old drummer was riding his bike when he was hit by a car in Chicago on Wednesday, police have confirmed in a statement.
School of Rock's Jack Black said he was "heartbroken" by the news, while co-star Miranda Cosgrove also paid tribute to him. Chicago Police said the cyclist was pronounced dead after being found partially under a car.
He was taken in a critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
