Salford apartment owners hit with £100,000 bills to make homes fire safe

Freeholder Irwell Valley Homes says the work on Transport House on The Crescent will cost a total of £3m. The five-storey, block built in 2005, stands at 13.4 metres high and does not meet the Government's threshold of 18 metres for financial help implemented following the Grenfell disaster in 2017.

Many of the 36 leaseholders in the five-storey building say they have no way of finding the money to pay for the work. They have each received letters from the Irwell Valley Homes detailing the work which needs to be carried out.
