As the Queen celebrates her 96th birthday, royals including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have shared loving tributes to mark the occasion. But as Her Majesty celebrates her birthday without her late husband Prince Philip — her “strength and stay” — by her side for a second year, a favourite tradition of the Duke of Edinburgh’s will be missing from the day.

A royal expert is claiming the Queen will struggle to hand over her crown and the responsibilities that go with it until things settle down with her family.

This Morning viewers were left none too pleased as guest Matthew Wright criticised the Queen.The television presenter appeared on Tuesday's instalment of the ITV morning show to discuss the re-release of the 95 year old monarch's book, The Other Side Of The Coin: The Queen, The Dresser, and The Wardrobe. However, 56 year old Matthew made his feelings for the Queen known as he told hosts Vernon Kay and Josie Gibson: "You know, why does a royal family have to be incredibly rich? "If you look at other royal families around Europe, they go around on bicycles, they live normal lives," Matthew said.  He added: "I felt very uncomfortable watching Prince Andrew walk her through the other day for Philip's ceremony." Matthew continued: "And here we hear her dresser breaks in her brand new custom-made shoes for her, so they're more comfortable.
