This week Jewish people in Greater Manchester and across the world will be marking the New Year - or Rosh Hashanah.While the celebrations may be restricted this year due to ongoing restrictions across the country, households will still be able to mark the important occasion.Many synagogues will still be welcoming visitors for prayer with social-distancing in place.This festival marks the start of the High Holy Days also known as the 'Days of Awe'- a time for family, friends and personal reflection.Literally meaning the 'head of the year', the two-day Rosh Hashanah celebration will take place from sundown on Friday September 18 to nightfall on Sunday September 20.In Israel, it is the only the only holiday that lasts for two days as it is.
