at around 12pm on Saturday, November 21.Her owner Melissa Baylis, 17, says a stranger has contacted her family on Facebook claiming to have found her nine-week-old pet - but won't give it back.Police have now warned that “theft by finding is a criminal offence” and are urging whoever has the little dog to return her to the rightful owner.Melissa initially thought the puppy had escaped through a gap in the fence, but now believes she may have been stolen.After sharing a missing appeal on Facebook, Melissa’s mum received a message on Facebook from a complete stranger.She says the woman claimed Nelly had been found, but said she would not give the dog back.Instead, she said she intended to find the animal a “safe, caring home”.Melissa received.
