Police commit to speed checks and crackdown after petition from villagers

iOS - Android Petitioner Andrew Carnegie told the council's petitions committee on Wednesday, August 25, that the speed of passing cars and vans was too dangerous to walk his son to school.

He told Lanarkshire Live : "I had been working from home during lockdown and I had been walking the dog often through the village, as well as taking my son to Underbank Primary School. "The speed indicator sign has not been working and I have noticed that there are quite a lot of high-speed vehicles going over 30mph."I was walking the dog one evening around October and I nearly got hit by a van.

It was going that fast, I couldn't catch the number plate to report it."From speaking to other parents and dog walkers, they've said this has been an ongoing.
