Traffic PSCOs have been stationed along Oxford Road today (Wednesday) to stop bike users 'not adhering to the rules of the road.' A number of cyclists were reportedly stopped and issued warnings about the dangers of running red lights.

Under the Road Traffic Act all road users including cyclists can face an on-the-spot fine of £30 for failing to stop at a red traffic light.

Oxford Road is used by thousands of students and commuters every day and has a cycle lane running the entire length. GMP's traffic division tweeted: "Officers from the #TransportUnit worked alongside Traffic PCSOs
