Plan to recruit former drug users to help prevent deaths in parts of Kilmarnock

East Ayrshire in a bid to prevent deaths. It comes as East Ayrshire has the third-highest number of drug deaths in Scotland, according to most recent figures.Two recruits will cover Kilmarnock north-west and Shortlees.Another worker will be based at both Dalmellington and Bellsbank while a third will be assigned to Cumnock.The new employees will be former drug users or have experience of complex needs and must be willing to share their experiences.The peer outreach workers will try to engage with and help people struggling with addiction.
