Perthshire estate hopes to embark on a rewilding project to tackle the nature and climate crises.Bamff Estate, which was previously instrumental in the reintroduction of beavers to the region, hopes to inspire other farms with its project.It will see 450 acres in eastern Perthshire transformed into a nature-rich connected area of land.Sheep have been removed from the fields, and after a fallow year this land will be linked to the woods and beaver wetlands to form a single rewilding zone – the first of its kind in Scotland, according to the estate.Small numbers of native breeds of pigs, cattle and ponies will be introduced, as proxies for their wild ancestors.
