Sam Fender has given an update on his new album, admitting he “rushed” to release ‘Seventeen Going Under‘.Fender gave the update in an upcoming appearance on Sky Arts’ Johnson and Knopfler’s Music Legends, which sees Brian Johnson and Mark Knopfler interview musicians including Fender, Tom Jones, Cyndi Lauper, Nile Rodgers, Carlos Santana and Emmylou Harris.In the forthcoming interview (as per Music News), the Geordie musician said of his next record: “We have been recording and recording and making loads of stuff but it got to the point where I thought, ‘We don’t need to get this out yet. We need to get it right’.“For the second one [‘Seventeen Going Under’], we rushed to get that out and the third one we started rushing and I thought, ‘No, we have got to take the time’.“I want to do the best I possibly can.

The Rolling Stones have confirmed that Sam Fender, Phoebe Bridgers, The War On Drugs and Courtney Barnett will support the band at their BST Hyde Park shows.The band will be performing two concerts in London in the summer as part of their 60th anniversary tour.The Stones have announced The War On Drugs and Bridgers will support them on June 25, while Fender and Barnett will appear on July 3.Following on from their acclaimed USA ‘No Filter’ tour, their latest jaunt will see Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood make their long-awaited return to the UK, also performing at the home of Liverpool FC – Anfield, for the Stones’ first in Liverpool show for over 50 years.Echo And The Bunnymen will provide support for that concert. I got them turned into beer pumps! I think this one might come home. I might give this to my dad; I think he’d be really chuffed.”And what has he done with his NME Award?“I might turn that into a beer pump, or leave it in the pub for loads of dafties to do drugs off it,” he said.During his acceptance speech at the Ivors yesterday, Fender used the opportunity to pay tribute to his former manager at said pub, North Shields’ Low Lights Tavern.“A very good friend of mine passed away last week,” Fender told the audience.
