Scottish Lib Dems took £16k from tax haven lawyer found guilty of misconduct
Scottish Lib Dems took money from the UK firm of a lawyer based in a tax haven who was found guilty of professional misconduct, the Record can reveal.Party chiefs were given £16,000 by Inshmore Properties in Glasgow – just two weeks before the company began winding up proceedings. The boss of Inshmore is Isle of Man-based lawyer Paul Gallagher, whose actions were found to have brought his profession into “disrepute” by a Scots tribunal.Nothing suggests the donation breaches Electoral Commission rules as Inshmore was still officially active in the UK but opponents slammed the gift.Labour MSP Neil Findlay said that the Lib Dems had questions to answer and added: “Accountability is central to democracy.”Accounts on the Electoral Commission
