Pep Guardiola has told Phil Foden he was wrong to suggest Manchester City’s dominant derby display was “the game of our lives”.
The 21-year-old Blues star was bubbling after the 2-0 win over Manchester United and told a TV interviewer: “I think we had the game of our lives today. “Everything went right for us.
We dominated the match from start to finish which is really good.” City won 2-0 and were denied more goals by some remarkable David De Gea saves, and the denial of a clear penalty shout.
The stats showed they had completely controlled the game, with 68 per cent possession and 16 shots to five, while United had as many shots at De Gea as they had at City’s Ederson, including Eric Bailly’s own goal.
