This Morning was forced to end its live broadcast as the sad news was announced that Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, had passed away.
The 99-year-old passed away peacefully on the morning of April 9 at Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace said with a statement issued on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen.
Strict potocol in the event of the duke's death meant that the announcement was made to the Press Association and the BBC first.
