Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.
He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, having held that title since 1958. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace as the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, which his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had attended as a child. Charles also spent a year at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia.
The Queen has reportedly banned the Royal family from wearing their military uniforms at the late Prince Philip's funeral on 17 April.
Prince Harry could have been left red-faced if his brother Prince William, 38, and 72 year old father Prince Charles wore their uniforms without him after his honorary ranks were taken away.
When Harry, 36, and Meghan Markle, 39, made the decision to permanently step down from royal duties in February, Harry was stripped of his military title as Captain General of the Royal Marines, a role he took over from his grandfather.
Because of this, he will no longer wear his uniform to any official events, being the only senior male of the family to be in this position.
