A record-high number of LGBTQI characters were seen in regular and recurring roles on US TV in 2021-2022, a new report from GLAAD has revealed.GLAAD’s Where We Are on TV report analysed primetime scripted series regulars and recurring characters on broadcast networks, cable networks and streaming services for the 2021-2022 TV season.“The growing state of LGBTQ representation on television is a signal that Hollywood is truly starting to recognize the power of telling LGBTQ stories that audiences around the world connect with,” said GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis in a statement. GLAAD said that while there were series with multiple LGBTQI characters like Brooklyn Nine-Nine, All American, Legends of Tomorrow, Station 19, Grey’s Anatomy, Batwoman and Sex Education, there was no primetime broadcast series with majority LGBTQI characters.Stills from Pose (left) & Sex Education (right).GLAAD recorded 637 LGBTQ characters on these platforms. 50 Cent (aka Curtis Jackson) is set to make his move into superhero cinema, with the rapper-come-media mogul signing on to produce at least one film based on DC’s Xerø comics.Deadline reports that Jackson will steer the project through his production company, G-Unit Film & Television, in tandem with Color Farm Media’s Erika Alexander and Ben Arnon. Xerø creator Christopher Priest is also linked to the project, with Joseph Illidge – CEO of production and publishing company Illuminous – rounding out the production team. Notable is that the Xerø film will be a wholly independent production, with neither DC nor WarnerMedia involved in the project.

Meghan McCain called out Sarah Palin for going out to dinner in New York City just days after testing positive for COVID. The former The View co-host, 37, told Daily Mail on Jan. 27 that Sarah — who was Meghan’s late father John McCain’s running mate during the 2008 presidential election — was “reckless” and “stupid” for her decision. Sarah, 57, reportedly ate at Italian restaurant Elio’s on Saturday (Jan. 22) and sat inside, despite not being vaccinated. She tested positive for COVID on Monday (Jan. 24), but returned to the restaurant two days later (Jan. 26) and ate there again, this time outdoors.
