direct to your inboxA man was taken to hospital after he was rescued from a canal in Manchester city centre.Emergency services were called to the Rochdale Canal, off Castle Street, shortly before midnight on Friday.The man had already been rescued before firefighters arrived.He was taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS).It's not clear who pulled the man from the water.A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 23.44PM on the 18th December GMFRS were called to an incident on Castle street in Manchester."Fire engines from Oldham, Hollins and Chadderton were quickly on the scene of the water rescue incident."One male was rescued from the canal prior to GMFRS arrival, firefighters administered.
