manchestereveningnews.co.ukA man has been charged with terrorism offences after a warrant in Cheshire. Mason Yates, of Elsreet Court, Widnes, was arrested by officers after a warrant at his home on Friday, January 8.
The 18-year-old has since been charged with two counts of possession of a document or record likely to be useful to a person preparing, or committing, an act of terrorism, contrary to section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
He has also been charged with possession of an extreme pornographic image, police said. Yates appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court yesterday (November 4) and will next appear at Central Criminal Court on November 19. Every year thousands of reports from the public help police tackle the terrorist threat.
