It happened on the A6 Wellington Road North near Heaton Chapel at around 11:15pm last night (Saturday). The 27-year-old pedestrian was struck by a car, understood to be a Black A Class Mercedes, which then drove off heading southbound towards Stockport. The man, who had suffered "very serious" head injuries, was rushed to hospital. He remains in a critical condition Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said today (Sunday).
