The banking arm of the upmarket supermarket says the closures are a result of a surge in online banking. M&S first confirmed the bank closures - all of which are located within stores - in an update on March 4.

It had previously said it would redeploy affected branch workers where possible, but hasn’t confirmed since how many possible redundancies will take place.
