The Marie Curie cancer charity is to be the main beneficiary of a private garden near Lockerbie opening its gates to the public for the first time on Sunday.Mrs Yda Morgan is keen to share the amazing wildflower meadow which she has lovingly developed during the past five years in the grounds of Garden Cottage at Knockhill.Part of the old walled garden of Knockhill – five miles from Annan and Lockerbie just off the B723 – it has been redesigned for the renovated garden bothy.Yda has plenty of fascinating information and observations about the ever changing wildflower meadow to pass on and visitors can also enjoy a leisurely look, from 2pm to 5pm, at her two borders of shrubs and perennials, as well as fruit trees and other “nooks and crannies” of interest.Lovely parkland with magnificent trees adjoins the garden and visitors are also welcome to roam there.Yda said: “I am thrilled to be opening my garden to the public and hope that people come and see it for themselves while helping Marie Curie and Scotland’s Gardens scheme beneficiaries.”Admission is £5 for adults and free to accompanied children.There will be homemade teas available and it is wheelchair friendly with dogs welcome on a lead.
