Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

The UK is at the height of the coronavirus lockdown - but that hasn't stopped fast-food giant KFC re-opening a couple of its Manchester chicken shops.

The chain's branches on Deansgate and in Hulme have re-opened with a skeleton staff for deliveries only - and they're also dishing out free meals to NHS staff.

The fast-food giant announced on March 23 that all its restaurants were closing with immediate effect 'to help protect the well-being and safety of our teams and of our guests'.

The decision came as Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a national lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic. "It’s not a decision we’ve taken lightly, but it’s in the best interests of both our incredible teams and all the fans that love our chicken,"
