Kelsea Ballerini reveals she struggled with an eating disorder as a teenager. In her new poetry book Feel Your Way Through, the singer confesses her issues with bulimia began in high school.

In the poem titled “Kangaroo”, Ballerini writes that a boy called her “Kangaroo” due to her “belly and little legs”. She went on to battle bulimia for years, using diet pills and excessively working out to the point of exhaustion multiple times.

She sought help when she turned 18. “My parents had just gotten divorced, and I think for me, it was a source of control,” she tells People magazine in the new issue.
