It’s been confirmed that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) will conduct an internal investigation in the handling of Caroline Flack’s assault case.
The Love Island host died by suicide on February 15 after discovering the CPS were pushing forward with a trial for her charge.
Caroline was charged with assault after an altercation with her boyfriend Lewis Barton in her apartment. The couple were ordered to cease contact following Caroline’s court hearing in which she was bailed pending her trial date which was set for March 4.
Following her death, her management team took aim at the CPS and accused them of conducting a ‘show trial.’ Lewis also insisted that he didn’t support the prosecution and Caroline had pleaded not guilty.
