Kate Middleton and Prince William have cancelled the first royal engagement of their Caribbean tour after protests from local residents.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had been expected to kick off the eight-day tour with a visit to a cocoa farm in Belize. However, following protests over indigenous rights, Kate, 40, and William, 39, were forced to backtrack on the outing.
Despite the plan alterations, the couple are scheduled to stay in Belize for three nights. During their time in the country, Kate and William will visit historic Mayan sites and will also celebrate the culture of the Garifuna community.
