In an exclusive report published last night, the M.E.N revealed how Her Majesty’s Inspectorate for policing has escalated GMP into what is officially known as the ‘national oversight process’.

The move comes as a result of the force's failures around crime recording and the protection of vulnerable people. It follows a blistering report published last week which found GMP had significantly deteriorated in its crime recording since 2018 and was now even worse at it than in 2016, when it was rated inadequate.
