Hairdressers and barbers have been issued a warning following allegations that some have been flouting lockdown restrictions.
Wigan Council said they have received reports of appointments being offered over social media. They said hair cuts were then being carried out in gardens or by allowing customers into homes.
Some businesses are even alleged to have been 'exploiting' the situation by offering increased price rates. A letter has now been sent to salons and barbers across the borough reminding them that they must not be open.
Hair salons and barbers were ordered to shut down after PM Boris Johnson imposed a nationwide lockdown on March 23. The restrictions also apply to mobile hairdressing services.
