He remained in custody until a bed could be found in a suitable facility, however, CCTV footage revealed Jake's declining condition as he started talking to himself and visibly began hallucinating in his cell.Jake was found unresponsive in his cell shortly after midnight and he was pronounced dead at around 12.30am on June 25, 2019.Following an inquest into his death, which concluded last week at Durham Miner’s Hall, a jury found that Jake, from Chester-le-Street, died due to ketoacidosis - a form of alcohol withdrawal.The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) investigated the circumstances surrounding his death and revealed a number of police failings.Now, his devastated mum Alison has spoken out about her.
