What was once harmless fun to honour the popular film, has now attracted a handful which have ruined the trend. Viral videos on TikTok show some cheering loudly at points in the film, loudly clapping, with some just there to disrupt by chucking popcorn and bananas.

The fruit is the favourite snack food of Gru's yellow helpers, called Minions. One independent cinema in Wadebridge, Cornwall, has banned any unaccompanied children who are wearing suits from watching the film.
