An estimated 150 people turned out at St Peter's Square today. The proposed Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill includes measures to increase police powers over the right to protest.

Greater Manchester Police said they were 'aware of and monitoring' the protest, which the force described as peaceful and contained.

Protesters marched through the city centre and gathered at various areas including St Peter's Square in scenes echoed in other parts of the country.
