SUE Perkins doesn’t mind us paying her wages on the BBC — but she has not always been as keen to contribute herself. The former Great British Bake Off host quit the show alongside her co-presenter Mel Giedroyc, because they did not want to “follow the dough” when it went over to Channel 4.

But Sue says she used to watch the Beeb without having a licence. Comic Sue — who is currently starring in, er, not a lot — says she even used to hide from TV inspectors when they came knocking at the door in her days studying at Cambridge University.
