Tests which have shown an antiviral drug can limit the time it takes to recover from coronavirus represent an 'encouraging first step', UK health bosses have said.
International clinical trials proved that Remdesivir, originally developed as an Ebola treatment, can reduce the time patients suffer symptoms from 15 days down to 11.
