The 50-year-old, who has been linked with a Manchester United return on the back of Ed Woodward tendering his resignation as the club's executive vice-chairman, guarded the posts at Old Trafford between 2005 and his final year as a professional.
In doing so, Van der Sar won four Premier League titles and was the penalty shootout hero as United defeated rivals Chelsea in the 2008 Champions League final.
