JAKE Wood's past EastEnders role has been revealed in an incredible '90s throwback - almost two decades before he became a fan favourite as Lothario Max Branning.

As Max, 47-year-old Jake has suffered his fair share of heartbreak and drama since arriving in Albert Square in 2006, but the actor first landed in Walford in 1990 as Diane Butcher's guardian angel, Jackson.

The star appeared in two episodes of the BBC One soap at the time, as part of a storyline about Diane sleeping rough. Jackson was seen to help Diane, with the pair becoming friends.

Although his face has hardly changed at all, Jake still looks remarkably different from his current alter ego as his famous bald head has been replaced with a tuft of bright orange hair.
