A new coronavirus testing centre for frontline NHS staff and care workers has opened in Bury. The drive through facility is being run from a car park off Trinity Street, in the town centre.

However, the service is not available to the wider public. Only health and social care staff self-isolating at home with family members who are displaying symptoms of Covid-19 are eligible to be tested.

Local health and social care employers will ask affected staff to make appointments at the site. Anyone attending the facilities must travel in their own private vehicle, which they should not leave at any time, and are required to roll down the driver’s seat window to enable a member of staff to collect a throat swab sample.
