Wolverhampton Wanderers ' discontented forward Diogo Jota after struggling to agree terms with Watford for the transfer of Ismaila Sarr.
Jota - a full Portugal international following three impressive seasons in English football – had grown unhappy with his status in Nuno Espirito Santo's squad following recent tactical changes and is open to the Anfield switch.
Wolves are understood to value Jota at over €40million, and are prepared to sell to Liverpool after strengthening their own attack earlier in the window.
The Chinese-owned club is now overloaded in forward positions having failed to secure mooted high-value sales of Adama Traore and Raul Jimenez.
