The episode in question - episode five called Spot the Difference - saw DI Richard Poole (Ben Miller) escort criminal Leon Hamilton (Jeff Alexander) back to Saint Marie by boat.
But despite being handcuffed together, Leon ended up being stabbed to death by a mystery assailant while Richard was looking the other way, leading to much embarrassment for the detective.
