The couple put in a planning application to West Oxfordshire District Council for a mammoth stretch of water, nearly 3000 square meters around and with a depth of four meters.
But their plans have hit a bump in the road after an ecology report said it threatened "priority species". The report said: "The loss of the grassland will potentially impact on protected and priority species including amphibians (including great crested newts), reptiles, mammals and ground nesting birds.
