The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for 70mph winds for parts of Lancashire today. North and western areas of the UK have been warned that there is a 'danger to life' from the weather until 11am.
Some of the major areas covered by the warning include Lancaster, Blackpool, Preston, Lytham, and Morecambe, while Blackburn, Burnley, Accrington, and Rossendale are no longer included.
According to the forecaster, flying debris can cause injuries and even pose a risk to life - however, under a yellow warning, there is only a small chance of this.
Damage can also be caused to buildings and commuters should expect longer journey times with road closures and power cuts, Lancs Live reports.
