Cumnock backed to be global hub for new music composers and teachers under plans revealed by Sir James MacMillan

Cumnock's famous Tryst music festival has revealed plans to create a centre for excellence in the town.Sir James MacMillan said teaching already pioneered in the area's schools could become a template for music tuition throughout Scotland and beyond.He has revealed plans to link with music education body Trinity College London over the next 10 years.The aim will be to nurture the careers of fledgling composers and their teachers.Leading teachers and composers from around the world will, MacMillan said, hopefully be drawn to Cumnock.He hopes the plans can turn the town into an international “centre of excellence in learning and composition.”“I really believe that here we have the skills and resources to create an internationally recognised.
