Coldplay frontman Chris Martin told fans in Mexico the band’s track Everglow was being sung in tribute to Taylor Hawkins after his death was confirmed overnight. Hawkins died aged 50 during the band’s tour in Colombia, and was found in his hotel room in Bogota.
His cause of death is as yet unknown. The music industry has been left heartbroken by the news, with tributes rolling in from the likes of Ozzy Osborne, Travis Barker and Miley Cyrus.
Coldplay also gave a sweet nod to the late star, dedicating a track in his honour as they performed in Monterrey, Mexico on Friday night.
During a gig at the Estadio BBVA, Martin paid tribute to Hawkins before a performance of their track ‘Everglow’. The four-piece band are currently on their Music For The Spheres world tour, and have reached their South American leg.
