Get the day's biggest stories sent direct to your inbox so you never miss a thing Police investigating the disappearance of Claudia Lawrence have drained a lake as they continue to search for the chef 12 years after she went missing.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed that the pond at Sand Hutton Gravel Pits had been emptied as part of searches at the site, which they said may last a number of days.
Ms Lawrence, who was 35 at the time of her disappearance and lived in the Heworth area of York, was last seen on March 18 in 2009.
She was reported missing after she failed to arrive for a shift at York University, where she worked as a chef. Detectives believe she was murdered, although no body has ever been found.
