The extension of a Cambuslang primary school that only opened in 2017 could cost up to £4 million.Local residents say the planned expansion to Newton Farm Primary proves South Lanarkshire Council’s calculations are “not fit for purpose”.Details for the school were revealed among £75m worth of capital projects approved by the council recently.

In the Rutherglen and Cambuslang area, £170,000 will go towards Newton Farm, centred around design work. However the local authority report reveals the total cost for the full extension for the school, which currently has a roll of 302, is expected to be £4m.
