Bruce Willis' longtime stunt double has told how the actor suddenly began to 'change' just months before it was revealed he had been diagnosed with aphasia.

Stuart F. Wilson, who has stepped in for Willis for 17 years, said he noticed how the 67-year-old Die Hard star changed in recent years, but that it was not obvious initially that anything was amiss.

In a statement on social media on Wednesday, Willis' family told his fans that he had been diagnosed with aphasia, a brain condition that affects his ability to understand language, and will therefore be stepping away from acting.  'We had seen some changes, but a lot of times with bigger celebrities that are really, really popular like, like Bruce, they have a million different things going on,' Wilson told The Sun.  'Sometimes when you were talking to him, he just seemed sidetracked and we would think it would mean nothing but you would wonder if there are other things going on. 'Wilson was able to share that it was only because of the amount of time he was spending with the star that it soon became obvious that it was more than just a bout of forgetfulness. 'Being with somebody that much yeah, you see the changes.

Obviously we knew there was other stuff going on at a certain point in time. We realized because he's getting tested for different things, but at the time we didn't know exactly what it was. 'Wilson also told The Sun he knew an announcement would be made about Willis' health, sooner or later.
